FIELD NOTE 02 · Competition

CM21: prepare for the second Capricorn Cup.

For Global CM21, start with the Chukyo turf 1,200m layout and check your inheritance before training. The current preparation guide describes a changed final-straight boundary, so an old CM9 setup can give you the wrong skill-timing assumption.[1] These are community recommendations, not a tested win guarantee.

1. Set the correct track before building

The preparation material specifies left-handed, winter, sunny and firm. In uma.guide’s 18 October 2026 explanation, the final straight begins 12m before late race. Treat a simulator using an older boundary as a version question before using its output to choose skills.[1]

2. Give the training run a target

StaminaEnough to clear career racesAny; check the career route
Power1,2001,200
Guts600+800+
Wit1,2001,200

These are planning targets, not entry requirements. The two sources differ on Guts; keep that difference visible instead of inventing one mandatory cutoff.[1][2] Decide which target you can pursue with your available cards, then avoid sacrificing the rest of the run just to match one number.

3. Check inheritance before spending a full run

  1. Choose the running style first. Write down which inherited skills you intend to use and which positions they require.
  2. Separate speed carryover from acceleration. The current guide explains that a final-straight speed effect can begin just before late race; that is a different role from accelerating once the phase changes.[1]
  3. Check parent availability and aptitude. A named recommendation is not useful if you cannot obtain a suitable parent or build the needed sprint aptitude.
  4. Review one representative setup. Use the correct track, style and inherited skills together before investing in repeated training.

This ordering is our synthesis of the preparation tasks, not a claim that we ran a race simulation. For general condition checks, use the skill-selection guide.

4. One budget starting point, with limits

MooMooCows lists a budget front-runner example containing Kitasan Black [Fire at My Heels], Curren Chan [Cozy Cute Memory ♪], Sweep Tosho [Lamplit Training of a Witch-to-Be], Mihono Bourbon [The Ghost Finds Halloween Magic], Light Hello [From the Ground Up], and Tokai Teio [Teio-Oo-Oo!!!].[2]

This is a source example, not a universal cheapest deck or an instruction to pull for missing cards. Before adopting it, check which card would be borrowed, the limit breaks you actually own, and whether its skill access fits your chosen runner. If you change a slot, reassess that role; the example does not establish that any same-type replacement is equivalent.

Before the next training run

  • Current Chukyo track settings selected.
  • Runner and style chosen; no reliance on an old CM9 boundary.
  • Inherited skills checked for phase and position.
  • Support-card roles and borrowed slot identified.
  • Stat targets recorded as goals, with the Guts disagreement preserved.

Calendar dates and the final game notice take priority if the event changes. This page covers the Global CM21 preparation window checked on 22 October 2026, not JP’s current event.
